New thematic exhibitions synthesis of design and fashion

Through the staging of unique thematic exhibitions, the museum seeks to break new ground by entering a phase of architectural transformation. This ambitious architectural project marks a new milestone in the history of the building. Madison Cox, President of the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent, has entrusted the renovation of the museum to the architectural firms Selldorf Architects of New York and Studio La Boétie of Paris. The internationally renowned architect of German origin Annabelle Selldorf, based in New York, is known for projects such as the Frick Collection in New York, Luma Arles and the renovation of the Sainsbury Wing of the National Gallery in London. Annabelle Selldorf's work is characterized by a unique synthesis of design and historical heritage.

It will double the exhibition space

The project aims to double the surface area accessible to the public, allowing access to iconic spaces such as Pierre Bergé's office, and enhancing the experience of an ever-widening visitor base. The project will also optimize the conservation conditions of the museum's collection, thanks to the permanent transfer of part of the reserves to a location outside the museum. A new Documentation and Research Center will be created. Its purpose will be to conserve and promote, in its entirety, the archives and documents related to the life and work of Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé by offering researchers, fashion historians and professionals, students and other fashion enthusiasts privileged access to an extraordinary archive, such as the documentation collected over the years by the research team of the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent and subsequently by the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris.
