There are those like the president of Campania Vincenzo De Luca he defined the single SEZ for the South as yet another government mess. De Luca has had the prime minister as his sworn enemies for months Giorgia Meloni and the minister Raffaele Fitto, reported two days ago for defamation regarding the delay in cohesion funds for Campania. De Luca has become the strongest opponent of the government, leading even solitary battles inside and outside the Democratic Party, but in the meantime the Zes (Special Economic Zones) has left.
The government intends to accelerate investments in the South and link them to the Pnrr. We thus move from the 8 previous special zones to a single one which brings together Abruzzo, Basilicata, Calabria, Campania, Molise, Puglia, Sicily and Sardinia and the non-negligible figure of 2.500 Municipalities. The single structure was designed to have a unified picture of industrial initiatives in the Regions. The numbers of the previous 8 areas are certainly not flattering. Two hundred files accumulated by the commissioners are now transferred to the structure located in Rome.
