The IOR after Gotti Tedeschi: Benedict XVI wants the German Tietmeyer as new president

Who will be the successor of Ettore Gotti Tedeschi on the throne of the IOR? The name most appreciated by Pope Benedict XVI seems to be that of the 81-year-old Hans Tietmeyer.

The German banker was president of the Deutsche Bundesbank between 1993 and 1999. Today he is vice president of the board of directors of the Bank for International Settlements, president of the London Business School and above all a member of the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences.

A step behind Tietmeyer are the other candidates whose names have been made in the last few hours: Cesare Geronzi, Antonio Fazio and Giovanni Bazoli. At the moment, the interim president of the IOR is Ronaldo Hermann Schmitz, ex Deutsche Bank.
