Thick, the cut of Pnrr funds for hydrogeological instability cries out for revenge

Just on the day in which President Mattarella raises the alarm about the delays in the fight against climate disasters, Minister Fitto cuts interventions by the Pnrr to counter hydrogeological instability, completely ignoring the sense of urgency and the obligation of priority

Thick, the cut of Pnrr funds for hydrogeological instability cries out for revenge

Remodulate the funds of the Pnrr it is right not to lose them, but there is a way and a way to revisit them and cut the funds today to counter hydrogeological instability after the climatic disasters of recent days and after the warnings of the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, he cries for vengeance. In Parliament, the oppositions will call the Minister of European Affairs, Raffaele Fitto, to realize it, but the facts speak for themselves and give the impression that in Government the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. Just yesterday, President Mattarella issued a severe warning, first of all reminding the Government that "we are late" on the answers to be given to the shocking climate change and that Italy is gambling its credibility on the Pnrr. And the prime minister herself Giorgia Meloni, before meeting with US President Joe Biden at the White House, he had argued that, in the face of climatic instability, from fires to floods, "the medium-term objective that the Government has set itself is to overcome the logic of fragmented interventions by launching a major hydrogeological prevention plan". Right, but when Mattarella and Meloni spoke, Minister Fitto wasn't there or, if he was, he didn't hear and didn't understand. Otherwise it would not be explained why just yesterday the minister canceled from the Pnrr interventions for 16 billion euros mainly dedicated to the environment and in particular those against hydrogeological instability and floods. Fitto justified himself by saying that "they were old investments that we inherited and that are not working, we can no longer keep them in the Pnrr" and they will be saved with cohesion funds. In the battle for the defense of the environment everything is needed except demagoguery and it may even be that technically Fitto's arguments have some foundation, but this is not enough to avoid the sacrosanct indignation of civil society and not only of the populations affected by fires and floods . It is not enough because Fitto's drawing has a sadly notarial flavor and completely lacks the sense of urgency and the obligation of priority that the fight against hydrogeological instability must take. This is not how you save the territory. Dense immediately down from the tower.
