Flos Olei, the guide to oil production companies around the world and the best extra virgin olive oils, edited by Marco Oreggia and Laura Marinelli has announced the ranking of The Best, the best of the world's extra virgin olive oil production. The Company of the Year is the Salerno-based Fattoria Ambrosio; the Best Extra Virgin Olive Oil of the Year is from the Azienda Agricola De Carlo, from Puglia; the Emerging Company is the Frantoio di Croci in Tuscany.

20 The Best awards out of 729 oils from 57 countries across five continents

Twenty are the first-ranked production companies out of 729 selected extra virgin olive oils from 57 countries across 5 continents, which will be awarded on December 15th at The Westin Excelsior hotel in Rome and Italy has swept the board with awards.  In fact, there are thirteen Italian companies deserving of The Best, 3 Spanish, 2 Croatian, 1 Greek and 1 Brazilian. Among the other most sought-after awards: the Best Organic and Dop-Bio Extra Virgin Olive Oils are those of the Vincenzo Marvulli Agricultural Company (Basilicata) and Marfuga (Umbria). Croatian are the Green Company and the Heart Company: OPG Chiavalon and Olea BB (Istra), while the Best Extraction Method is from the Italian Frantoio Ranchino (Umbria).

Best value for money for a company from Puglia: Schiralli for Crudo oil

Il best quality/price ratio goes to the Apulian Crudo – Schiralli, that Quality/Quantity and Quality/Packaging the Spanish Muela-Olives and Verde Esmeralda Olive (Andalusia). In the other categories we find Italian companies: Olio Intini (Puglia), Azienda Agricola La Selvotta (Abruzzo), Marina Colonna (Molise), Fattoria di Fubbiano (Tuscany), Sebastiana Fisicaro – Frantoio Galioto (Sicily), Azienda Agricola Biologica Titone (Sicily); together with a Spanish, Almazaras de la Subbética (Andalusia), a Greek, Noan (Thessalia), and a Brazilian, Fazenda do Azeite Sabiá (São Paulo).

"It's our Silver Jubilee," Marco Oreggia emphasizes, "which means that for 25 years we have been talking about extra virgin olive oil in all its aspects, but always focusing on the pursuit of absolute quality. It's a project that involves many people, to whom we extend our personal thanks. The event will offer the public of enthusiasts, but also the press and a large group of international importers, the opportunity to taste a selection of the best that the world olive oil scene has to offer."

Flos Olei 2025 will deliver, as usual, also some Special Awards: four awards to those who, through their work, promote and spread the culture of the olive sector. This year, the Importer of the Year Award goes to the Chinese Norenfoods Technology Co. Ltd; the Restaurant of the Year Award goes to the Livorno-based Trattoria da Aurelio; the Journalist of the Year Award goes to the Spanish Nieves Ortega – Olimerca and the Cristina Tiliacos Special Award is reserved for the FIOI – Federazione Italiana Olivicoltori Indipendenti.

Nine companies, including 5 Italian ones, in the Hall of Fame

There will be a moment dedicated to Hall of Fame, established in 2019. «It is an expression born in the world of sports – explains Laura Marinelli – reserved for those who have particularly distinguished themselves over the years, reaching goals of absolute value. Let's say that it is a small group of authentic champions capable of climbing to the top of our rankings».

They are only 9 companies of which 5 are Italian, coming from different regions: Azienda Agricola Comincioli (Lombardy), Frantoio Bonamini (Veneto), Frantoio Franci (Tuscany), Azienda Agraria Viola (Umbria) and Azienda Agricola Biologica Americo Quattrociocchi (Lazio). Alongside our own, there are 3 Spanish companies, Casas de Hualdo (Castilla-La Mancha), Castillo de Canena and Aceites Finca La Torre (Andalucía), and the Croatian Mate (Istra).

The Guide is also enriched by world maps of olive growing areas, of which 20 are dedicated to Italy and 14 to Spain. There are three versions of the Guide (Italian-English, Italian-Spanish and Italian-Chinese).
