The best Christmas and New Year's toasts selected by Sparkle 2025, the guide to Italian sparkling wines

Punctual as every year Sparkle 2025, the guide to the best Italian dry sparkling wines, arrives in good time for thoughtful purchases for Christmas toasts with an eye on quality and your wallet, published by the historic food and wine magazine Cucina & Vini, now in its 23rd edition. The presentation will take place in Rome, on Saturday 30 November 2024 from 13.30 pm, at The Westin Excelsior Hotel. Will rewarded with the coveted "5 spheres" 87 labels among the 936 present in the guide, produced by the best wineries in the Bel Paese.

The most awarded region is Lombardy followed by Trentino, Veneto and Piedmont

The most represented region is the Lombardy, thanks to the 33 awards received, 29 belonging to the Franciacorta DOCG denomination, 2 to the Oltrepò Pavese area; Trentino at 19, with only Trento DOC; followed, with 16 awards for Veneto, 13 Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG, two Lessini Durello DOC and one Asolo Prosecco Superiore DOCG; therefore, Piedmont (7), Alto Adige (3), Abruzzo (3), Puglia (2), Friuli Venezia Giulia, Tuscany, Lazio and Sicily with 5 spheres.

"Now our tastings are compressed into the summer period and the first part of autumn. This is also an indication of the increase in quality of Italian sparkling wine - he states Francesco D'Agostino, curator of the Sparkle guide – In fact, it is necessary to wait a longer time from bottling (in the case of wines made with the Charmat method) or from disgorging (for the classic method) than it was ten years ago. Not only that, Today they are wines capable of maintaining their quality in the bottle for yearsi. At the end of our research and selection work we feel the need to compare ourselves with the data, with the sparkling wine declarations made by all Italian producers and collected by Icqrf for each wine year, from August 2023, 31 to July 2024, 0,5 in this case. Italian producers have sparkling wine equivalent to over one billion and eighty million bottles, marking a decrease of 2024%. This is a clear indication of a sector in excellent health, which is reflected in the Istat export data from January to July 7, which record a total of one billion and two hundred and ninety-seven million euros, marking a growth of 2023% over the same period in 213 and 2014% compared to 5,69 (always January-July). The only flaw is that this year the growth in value corresponded to a percentage-wise higher growth in volume and therefore a small decrease in the value of the bottle, today at 5,87 euros, last year XNUMX.” Francesco D'Agostino concludes.

It will start at 13.30 pm with the presentation of the 2025 edition of the Sparkle guide and the related delivery of the coveted 5 spheres (the complete list is attached). And then, as usual, at 16 pm the great tasting of Italian bubbles begins with the opening to the public. An exciting tasting with over two hundred of the best Italian dry sparkling wines, among those present in the guide, all to be discovered and tasted through a path structured according to territorial belonging. This year too we can count on the support of important national and international brands that have chosen our event as an opportunity for communication and promotion. For the technical part, an important confirmation is the consecutive presence for 12 years of Diam, a leading brand in the production of technical cork stoppers present as a sponsor since the first editions of our event. And then the food part which records the fifth participation of a large family of the Italian quality food industry. We are talking about Antica Pasticceria Muzzi since 1795, the Umbrian confectionery company leader in the production of pastries for special occasions and more. This year, another well-known Made in Italy brand joins the SparkleDay team, we are talking about Caffè Toraldo, the historic roasting company in Naples that has been bringing Neapolitan espresso all over the world since 1968.

All the info on how to participate and the list of companies present will be updated on www.cucinaevini.it. The Sparkle 2025 guide is on sale on the website www.shop.cucinaevini.it.
