Treasury: hypothetical sale of Sace and Fintecna to CDP to cut debt

The Treasury could sell the subsidiaries Sace and Fintecna to Cassa depositi e prestiti. This is the plan being studied by the Government to increase the financial leverage of the CDP for a possible operation to reduce the public debt. The text could arrive on the table of the Council of Ministers as early as tomorrow. This is what a government source confirmed to the Reuters agency.

Fintecna has a net worth of approximately 2,3 billion while that of Sace is 6,2 billion. Money that would go to increase the assets of the CDP. Furthermore, the Treasury – as the Deputy Economy Minister Vittorio Grilli recalled on Tuesday – is also looking for a way to finance the repayment operation of the public administration's debts towards companies. It is not excluded that the greater leverage capacity of the CDP could serve precisely this purpose.
