Tesla bids $3,6 billion to expand its factory in Nevada. The US automaker has announced a huge investment billionaire on the gigafactory where the “Semi” electric truck is produced
Tesla: investment of 3,6 billion in Nevada
The Nevada plant is Tesla's first giga-factory and began producing batteries in 2017. The automaker led by Elon Musk, in addition to that of Nevada, owns four others: New York, Shanghai, Berlin and Texas.
“We will invest further 3,6 billion dollars more to continue developing the Nevada gigafactory,” Tesla said in a statement.
This is slightly more than the initial investment to build the factory, which amounted to $3,5 billion in 2014, Tesla said.
According to forecasts, they will be created two factories: the first will take care of the production of battery cells, with the "capacity to produce enough batteries for 1,5 million light vehicles a year", and the second will be the "first plant high mass production“. The expansion of the Nevada factory will also bring 3.000 hires.
After the announcement, in the pre-market, the Tesla stock loses 1,45% to 141,8 dollars per share.
