It was French Premier Manuel Valls who “predicted” it, who stated in no uncertain terms during the Security Conference in Munich: “We are in a war because terrorism is fighting us. There will be more attacks and big bombings, that's for sure. The threat will not become less, even if we would like it to. The threat is "global" and other terrorist attacks in Europe are a certainty".
The transalpine prime minister spoke of a new era "characterized by the persistent presence of a sort of hyper-terrorism". For this reason, according to him, it is necessary to react with strength and lucidity.
Then a broadside to Russia: "France respects Russia and its interests, but we know that to find the path to peace again, the bombing of the civilian population must stop."
The response from Russian Prime Minister Medvedev was immediate. The latter, referring to relations between Russia and the West, spoke of a "new Cold War" due to the repeated accusations against Moscow, coming from Europe and the USA.
