An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 was registered at 4:13 between the provinces of L'Aquila, Rieti and Teramo. According to the findings of the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv), the earthquake had a hypocenter at a depth of 14 km; the epicenter was 3 km from Campotosto (L'Aquila), 8 from Amatrice (Rieti) and 12 from Crognaleto (Teramo).
The shock was clearly felt by the population, even as far as Rieti. The Civil Protection confirms that no damage to people or things has been reported. The Department's Italy Situation Room immediately got in touch with the local structures of the National Civil Protection System, to check the case.
