A magnitude 7.1 earthquake hit Mexico and the death toll continues to worsen as the hours go by. The victims are about 225, most of them in the state of Morelas and in Mexico City, as well as in Puebla and in the states of Mexico and Guererro.

In the capital there were around 40 collapses, specified President Enrique Pena Nieto, including the one in the 'Enrique Rebasamen' school where children were also trapped. Twenty of them died together with a teacher of the boarding school from which, according to local media, a six-year-old girl still trapped managed to get in touch with the rescuers via Whatsapp.

In addition to the men of the security forces - including 3 thousand military personnel - many volunteers took part in the rescue operations immediately after yesterday's mega-shock at 13,14 pm (local time). The megalopolis-capital, where 49 people who lost their lives, was deeply injured by the earthquake.

The return home of thousands and thousands of people took place in the midst of numerous difficulties and a chaotic climate, among other things due to gas leaks and closed roads, many of which without traffic lights due to blackouts, especially in the area of ​​the center and south of the capital: in total, about 3,8 million people were left without electricity, 2 million in Mexico City.

The comments of everyone in the city are above all two and highlight the fundamental features of the quake: yesterday, the earth shook even more violently than the devastating earthquake of 1985 (10 dead, also on 19 September) and that last 7 September, which had a higher intensity (8,2) and in which 100 people lost their lives.
