To dampen the controversy, launched by the 5 Star Movement, the Civil Protection itself took care of it: "The donations collected through the solidarity number 45500 - explained the institution that is managing the earthquake and snow emergency in Central Italy -, as well as the payments to the bank current account activated by the Civil Protection Department flow into the special accounts held in the name of the extraordinary commissioner open at the State Treasury".
The money has not yet been used for one simple reason: the collection, barring extensions, possible given the situation, will end on January 29, therefore next Sunday, according to what is established by a non-profit agreement with the operators Tim, Vodafone, Wind, 3, Postemobile, Coopvoce, Infostrada, Fastweb, Tiscali, Twt, Cloud Italia, Uno Communication and Convergenze Spa. euros, for now) it is not possible to decide which projects to finance”, says the Civil Protection.
“The sums are used to finance the reconstruction interventions in the territories – explains the institution directed by Fabrizio Curcio -. Therefore any use for emergency purposes is excluded. At the end of the collection, a Committee of guarantors is appointed, which has the task of evaluating and financing the projects presented by the Regions in agreement with the Municipalities concerned. The entire process of implementation is also followed up on the project. For example, in Emilia, after the 2012 earthquake, solidarity funds were used to rebuild schools and gymnasiums”.
