A new strong earthquake occurred a few minutes ago in the Reatino area. There is no peace for the territories afflicted by the tragedy, while rescuers continue to dig through the rubble in search of the missing.
According to reports from Ingv (the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology), the shock would have occurred at 14.36 pm and had a magnitude of 4.3, with a depth of 10 kilometers. It is the strongest since yesterday morning and would have caused new collapses of already damaged buildings in Amatrice, the town which, together with Accumoli and Arquata del Tronto, suffered the worst consequences of the earthquake of 3.36 on 24 August.
Today's new collapses would also concern the Amatrice school, at the center of the controversy because it was renovated in 2012 in compliance with the anti-seismic standards required by law. The judiciary will investigate the matter.
After the shock, the sports hall, currently used as a food store for the displaced, was evacuated as a precaution, checks by the firefighters to assess the usability of the building. This was reported by men of the civil protection present on the spot.
