Earthquake: 200 homes damaged – VIDEO

The estimate is provided by Decaro, president of Anci - The shocks of 26 and 30 October deformed an area of 600 square kilometers - Renzi: "Money already allocated, we will not make another deficit"

The earthquake that hit central Italy is likely to turn out to be the most serious catastrophe ever to occur in our country in terms of damage to homes. “We expect two hundred thousand requests for inspections of damaged buildings. They are four times more than in L'Aquila, more than any other emergency”. This was stated by the president of Anci, Antonio Decaro.

Furthermore, the tremors of October 26 and 30 deformed an area of 600 square kilometers. In some areas the ground has subsided up to 70 centimeters and the area affected by the sinking is about 130 square kilometres. The data emerge from the first analysis of the numbers provided by the Sentinel 1 radar satellite, of the European Copernicus programme, elaborated by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology (Ingv) and by the Institute for the electromagnetic survey of the environment of the National Research Council (Irea -Cnr).

As for the financial resources to deal with the emergency, "they are already allocated in the multi-year plan of the budget law - said Prime Minister Matteo Renzi -. Already in 2017 there is a space of 3 billion, they become 5 or 6 in 2018. There is no timely allocation because it is not yet known how much will be needed. There are spaces for action. Then if there is a need for further deficit space, we will put in the necessary money. At the moment there is no need. The deficit is at its lowest level in ten years. For Parliament it is set at 2,4%, in our draft at 2,3%”.
