Terna he threw "We are Energy", an awareness campaign for an aware, rational and virtuous use of electricity in Italy. The initiative was launched in agreement with the Ministry of the Environment and Energy Security to help citizens identify a series of behaviors thanks to which it is possible to contain consumption, and therefore costs, with a view to sustainability, cost savings and greater energy efficiency.
Ecologist who advises when to consume
As part of the campaign, Terna updated theelectrical system app available on all devices with a new feature: it's called Ecology and allows every citizen to easily identify the daily peak time slot in which it is preferable to consume less energy (Monday to Friday) and, therefore, be able to consciously choose to moderate one's needs while reducing costs for the entire electricity system Italian.
Ecology indicates the electricity demand forecasts of each single day, dividing it by:
- normal time: when there is an availability of electricity production higher than the requirement;
- sensitive hour: which invites you to save energy;
- now potentially critical: indicates production in line with demand and, therefore, it is preferable to reduce the use of non-essential energy;
- now critical: it signals a potential deficit between production and imports with respect to overall demand and consequently suggests avoiding unnecessary electricity consumption.
“With a simple click, therefore, it is possible to know the time intervals in which manage your consumption in a responsible manner”, underlines Terna in a note.
Terna's advice for saving energy and money
Use fully loaded appliances, defrost the fridge and freezer regularly, respect the most convenient time slots, disconnect the power supplies from the sockets, avoid leaving electronic devices on stand-by and switch off the light bulbs when you leave a room. These are some of the precautions that every citizen should take and which, if carried out consistently, make it possible save over a thousand euros the year of electricity. The greatest savings are also obtained by using heat pumps instead of gas boilers, class A appliances instead of class G and LED bulbs instead of incandescent ones.
