Terna, Ferraris: "Sustainability key to growth"

Renewal in continuity and sustainability as the "key to growth": these are the guidelines along which Terna will move in the intentions of the new CEO, Luigi Ferraris. In an extensive interview given to "Sole 24 Ore", Ferraris explains that he is thinking of strengthening the group's investment plan to strengthen the network and put it in the best position to respond to the needs of a constantly changing world and market .

Within this framework, which makes sustainability its added value, neither divestments nor acquisitions are excluded to optimize Terna's presence in the various areas of the world. The rationalization of the portfolio and therefore possible disposals mainly concern Terna in Central Europe. Conversely, the rest of Europe and Latin America are the areas where acquisitions could mature.

In this regard, Terna's CEO specifies that the acquisitions, which will always be targeted, "could concern service companies of excellence in energy efficiency, which would enrich the technological skills that we have developed".

Finally, Ferraris, who is a man of finance and who gained his most important professional experience at Enel and at Poste Italiane, does not shy away from the discussion on the possibility of "more generous" dividends: "Methodologically - he says - a parameter must be identified that can to involve our shareholders in future earnings growth through dividends. Then we have to define the quantum, with the current policy (Ed. average annual growth of 3% until 2021) which represents a floor and without losing sight of financial sustainability".
