Terna and Anie, "Safe Construction Sites" protocol signed

The electricity transmission network operator has signed a protocol with Anie to carry out work on the national electricity grid in safety – The agreement is developed in three technical documents which set out the methods of work.

Safely carry out the work necessary to ensure maximum efficiency of the approximately 63.800 km of the national electricity grid: this is the object of the Protocol signed today by Terna and Anie, the Federation that brings together the main companies in the electrotechnical and electronic sector.

The Protocol - the first of its kind signed by Anie with an infrastructure company - follows the one signed in 2012 on the environmental safety of construction sites, and is the expression of a synergistic cooperation that aims to minimize risks through the adoption of specific procedures in construction site activities.

The agreement is divided into 3 technical documents, elaborated jointly by Terna and Anie over the course of over 30 meetings, which establish the operating methods of the construction, maintenance and removal works of the overhead power lines of the national transmission grid.

“I want to express great satisfaction – commented Terna's Chief Executive Officer, Matteo Del Fante – also on behalf of Terna's 3.500 workers, for this new, important milestone that we have reached with the signing of this Protocol with Anie. The strong message that comes from this new agreement is that to seriously guarantee the safety of workers, we need to work together and in synergy".

“Also for this – continues Del Fante – today's Protocol is unique in its kind: having been drawn up together with Anie, it no longer distinguishes, and therefore unifies, Terna and Anie workers in terms of safety. And we hope, by committing ourselves from now on to promoting the adoption of rules and behaviors that respect the health and safety of workers also among all 2.000 Terna suppliers, that the Protocol signed today will become a best practice in other sectors as well and at the national level”.
