According to Terna's findings, during the summer time period, which began on 31 March and will end on the night between Saturday and Sunday, Italy saved a total of 568,2 million kilowatt hours, equal to 93,7 million EUR.

After 120 days of summer time, solar time returns between Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 October: at 3 in the morning the hands of the clocks will have to be moved back an hour. According to Terna's findings, during the summer time period that began on 31 March, thanks to that extra hour of light every day which led to postponing the use of artificial light every day, Italy saved a total of 568,2 613 million kilowatt hours (2012 million kWh the lowest consumption in 210), a value equal to the average annual electricity consumption of XNUMX thousand families.

In terms of costs, Italy saved 93,7 million euros with summer time, considering that for the final customer 1 kilowatt hour cost, in the period under consideration, an average of about 16,49 euro cents net of taxes. In detail, in March there was a saving of 7 million kWh, in April of 149 million kWh, in May of 81 million kWh, in June of 31 million kWh, in July of 30 million kWh, in August of 32 million kWh, in September of 81 million kWh and in October of 158 million kWh.

In 2012, the savings had been 102 million euros, since the average cost of 1 kilowatt hour was 16,65 euro cents. From 2004 to 2013, the country's total savings amounted to approximately 6 billion and 170 million kilowatt hours, equal to a value of approximately 900 million euros.
