Terna: investment boom in the first half (+10,2%). Also good profits (+3,5%) and revenues (+5,9%)

Terna archives the first semester of 2022 with a Net income from 398,1 million euros, up 3,5% year on year. Well i too revenues, increased by 5,9%, to 1,330 billion. On the profitability side, the EBITDA it stands at 946,9 million, 4,1% more than in the same period last year.

The company that manages the national electricity grid then pressed on the accelerator of the investments, which recorded a double-digit increase (+10,2%), reaching 660,5 million.

Finally, good news also comes from the front ofnet financial debt, which amounted to 30 billion on 8,994 June, against 10 billion on 31 December 2021.

The words of CEO Donnarumma

"The tragic events in Ukraine and the international energy crisis make it unavoidable for our country, in line with the objectives set by the European Union, to continue working in order to reduce dependence on fossil fuels as much as possible - he says Stefano Donnarumma, CEO and general manager of Terna – This objective can be achieved mainly by accelerating the development of renewable sources. From this point of view, the grid is a crucial enabling factor and for this reason Terna is giving a continuous boost to investments".

Prospects for the second semester

As regards the second part of the year, despite the difficulties caused by the war between Russia and Ukraine and the tensions on the commodities market, Terna confirms the objectives of Business Plan 2021-2025 "Driving Energy", which envisages 10 billion investments over the five-year period, of which around 1,7 in 2022.

The main investment projects

“Among the main investment projects of the Group – writes the group in a note – the progress of the Tyrrhenian Link, for which Terna recently submitted a request for authorization to build and operate the section to MITE WestLink, which follows the formal launch of the authorization procedure on the East Link section which took place in November 2021".

Furthermore, “the authorization process for the project is expected to start during the second half of the year Adriatic Link, the new submarine power line that will unite Abruzzo and Marche”.

And again: “among the main electricity infrastructures under construction is interconnection with France, whose entry into operation is expected in the second half of 2022".

Interventions on city networks

Finally, “during the second half of 2022, the interventions of rationalization of electricity grids in metropolitan areas, which will mainly involve the renewal of the current infrastructures with new technologically more advanced connections”, for example in Florence and Rome.
