Terna bans plastic from offices: the "plastic free" plan is underway

Terna decides to say goodbye to plastic and to explain the reasons for its decision it provides unequivocal numbers: 125.000 bottles of water, 125.000 plastic cups, equal to 4 tons of waste per year, and about 13.500 kg of CO2 in the atmosphere. Figures that the company led by Luigi Ferrari intends to gradually eliminate through the "plastic free" project.

In fact, the initiative's main purpose is to eliminate single-use plastic in all Terna offices throughout Italy, starting with the Roman one in Via Galbani.

Bottled water will disappear from the canteen and vending machines and will be replaced by dispensers of natural and mineral water, hot and cold. Plastic cups are also gone, replaced by about 700 personalized thermal bottles available to employees.

The "plastic fre" project is inspired "by the circular economy model" and is "founded on the principles of reduce-reuse-recycle, aimed at sustainability, a value that has always been promoted by the company in every area of its activity, and by now also in daily working life”, explains Terna in a note.

"The commitment undertaken with these projects requires the collaboration of each of us - declares Silvia Marinari, head of Human Resources, Organization and General Affairs - a concrete result is possible, in fact, only if the company and its people walk in responsibly in the same direction”.

"Being sustainable is part of our mission - declares Luca Torchia, head of External Relations and Sustainability - the decision to adopt sustainable policies also in daily office life, is linked to the growing importance that everyone at Terna attaches to sustainability, also and above all as a commitment to environmental protection”.
