Terna awards two 600 million tenders

Terna has awarded two tenders worth 600 million for the next 3 three years. The tenders concern works and maintenance of 50.000 km of 150 kV overhead lines, divided into 16 lots, located throughout the country which will involve approximately 10.000 workers including direct and related employees.

The assignees, all Italian, make up the high voltage supply chain in the national electromechanical sector. "The assignment was guided not only by the economic offers, but also by a complex technical score, including indicators of sustainability and process quality, resource qualification, accident prevention track record and operational capacity", underlines Terna in a note .

The works carried out on the overhead lines, in particular those at 150 kV, are fundamental for the efficiency of the infrastructures of the national electricity system. For this reason, Terna's industrial plan provides for various investments aimed at guaranteeing the digitization of the infrastructure, at controlling the age of the assets, at promoting the installation of innovative solutions. “The transaction is part of the execution of Terna's industrial plan recently presented to the markets and aims, even in the midst of the Covid-19 emergency, to enable an efficient and safe economic and productive restart of small and medium-sized enterprises in the sector”, the company says.

"Even in such a difficult moment for our country, we continue to work daily for grid efficiency electricity, the continuity of the electricity service, as well as to strengthen the safety of the people who work with us and for us", declared Luigi Ferraris, Terna's CEO.

“Combining new development interventions with constant and widespread modernization and maintenance of existing assets is essential to accompany the energy transition underway. To do this we are relying, with a commitment of 600 million euros over the next three years, on the Italian excellences of the sector. An important contribution to the restart of the economy once the health emergency is over", concluded Ferraris.
