Terna: agreement with RSE for energy and environmental projects and technologies

Terna, the manager of the national electricity grid, e csr – Energy System Research, a company specializing in analysis and research in the energy sector, have signed a cooperation agreement five-yearly. The objective of the agreement is the development and application of processes and technologies in the field of energy and the environment. The partnership aims to promote study initiatives and development and innovation activities in the energy sector. The agreement was signed by: Josephine of Foggia, CEO of Terna, the professor Franco Cotana, CEO of RSE.

Terna, network security and resilience

Thanks to the collaboration, Terna and Rse they will be able to cooperate through planning, programming and coordination actions. The goal is to create a favorable environment for the development of research and technologies, as well as the dissemination of innovative safety projects
energy and resilience of the electricity grid. All crucial aspects for Terna as a facilitator of the energy transition, and for RSE in its role as promoter of innovation, efficiency and sustainability in the entire energy supply chain.

Terna, framework agreement for mutual collaborations

The partnership includes the stipulation of a framework agreement to start collaborations on various topics, including optimal network planning, smart asset management, observability and resilience of the electricity system, development of new technologies for network flexibility, demand development scenarios and generation from renewable sources, big data management and data science , use of IoT, cyber security, artificial intelligence and other technologies for the energy transition.

The progress of the projects will be monitored by a management committee composed of representatives of Terna and RSE.

“We are proud to have entered into this agreement with aexcellence in the Italian and European panorama has always been committed to the study and identification of efficient solutions for the energy sector. The collaboration we start today will allow us to develop new technologies which will increasingly respond to the growing needs and challenges imposed by the energy transition, consistently with national and international decarbonisation targets" he declared Josephine of Foggia, CEO Terna.

“The global energy transition requires greater diffusion of electricity in all sectors. Italy therefore needs high-performance, intelligent and widespread electricity networks, capable of serving increasingly demanding users. The signing of the agreement between RSE and Terna establishes a important collaboration for the development of networks, not only in alternating current but also in direct current, and for the transport of energy throughout the country", he commented Franco Cotana, CEO csr.
