Terna: electricity consumption is recovering in September

It is the third consecutive month. The growth observed was 1%. This indicates that a recovery of economic and productive activity is underway in Italy

Electricity consumption is up in Italy for the third consecutive month. In September, Terna, the operator of the national electricity grid, noted that in September the demand for electricity was 26,4 billion kWh, an increase of 1% compared to September 2014. After July and August therefore confirms the positive trend in electricity consumption over the course of the last quarter, a fundamental indicator of economic recovery.

Electricity demand in September 2015 remains unchanged even if adjusted for the negligible effects of temperature and calendar. In fact, this year had the same number of working days (22) and an average monthly temperature substantially in line with that of the corresponding month of 2014. In the first nine months of 2015, the demand for electricity increased by 1,9% compared to the volumes of the corresponding period last year. With the same calendar, the result is +1,7%.
