The main European telecommunications companies are solid.
Deutsche Telekom (Germany), Telefónica (Spain) e Bouygues Telecom (France) closed their 2022 financial statements on a positive note.

Deutsche Telekom: +92% profit, T-Mobile grows

Net income doubled in 2022 for Deutsche Telekom. The German telecommunications company, mainly driven by growth in the United States, recorded a profit of 8 billion, del% increase 92. Sales rose 6,1% year on year to $114,4 billion as theebitda it increased by 8% to 40,2 billion. In Germany, sales increased 2% year-on-year, driven by new tariffs and broadband offerings.
The American subsidiary T-mobile generated an adjusted operating profit of $25,6 billion thanks to 6,4 million new customers.
Deutsche Telekom continued its asset disposals in order to reduce debt and free up funds to invest in 5G masts. Free cash flow, after investments, reached 11,5 billion.

Telefónica: 2 billion profit

Telefónica, the Spanish telecommunications company, reported a Net income higher than expected in 2022, equal to 2,01 billion euros (compared to the average of 1,95 billion euros expected by analysts). However, the profit was lower than in 2021 (8,1 billion) when the company recorded the sale of the telecommunications towers held by the subsidiary Telxius to American Tower Corporation, for a total of 7,7 billion. The turnover reached 40 billion, in increase 1,8% year on year, in line with analysts' expectations. Commercial activity was particularly strong in Latin America, Germany and the UK. The group's debt increased from 26 billion to 26,7.

Bouygues Telecom: revenue up 4%

Bouygues Telecom, the French telephone company, part of the Bouygues group, has achieved all the objectives set for 2022. It closes the 2022 budget with a Useful di 439 million +8,9%. The turnover was 7,53 billion, up 4% while theebitda stands at 10%. 449.000 new customers were acquired which led the company to reach 15,2 million subscribers. 3 million end-to-end fiber subscribers at the end of December 2022 or a gain of 674.000 new customers in the entire year. For 2023, Bouygues aims to grow its turnover and an after-rent EBITDA "of around 1,9 billion".

Green light to the European joint venture

The ok arrives from the European antitrust to the joint venture of Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telefonica and Vodafone aiming to challenge big tech. The European Commission has given the go-ahead to the creation of a common technological platform for the digital advertising. Brussels has unconditionally approved under the EU merger regulation (Eu Merger regulation), having concluded that the transaction does not raise competition concerns in the European Economic Area. The new platform will be active in Italy, France, Germany, Spain and the UK.
