Telecom Italia appeals to the Head of State on the exercise of golden power, ie on the exercise of special powers by the Government. The decision taken yesterday by the telephone company should not be considered as an act hostile to the Government but as a precautionary form to avoid an economic penalty in relation to failure to notify the authorities on previous corporate changes.
"As has been said, it is a technical appeal, a technical measure, we have the best relations with the government and Palazzo Chigi: it is only a calendar problem, a technical decision", confirmed today Arnaud de Puyfontaine, president of Telecom Italia and CEO by Vivendi.
Also yesterday, the Vice-President of Telecom Italia, Giuseppe Recchi, made it known that he intends to leave the security delegations for new professional commitments, but will continue to remain on the Board. “He told me yesterday that he was about to announce a new job – clarified de Puyfontaine – Since this new responsibility is not compatible with being able to maintain responsibility within security, we announced it yesterday”.
