Telecom, Recchi attacks Orange: "No merger"

"The operation is a fantasy of the manager of Orange, which could give rise to assumptions of responsibility: in reality there is absolutely nothing": thus declared the president of Telecom Italia Giuseppe Recchi in the press conference, cutting off any hypothesis of merger with the French TLC.

Telecom, Recchi attacks Orange: "No merger"

"There is no dossier on the table between Orange and Telecom Italia". So stated the president of Telecom Italia Giuseppe Recchi, at the press conference, cutting off any hypothesis of a merger with Orange and also adding fiery statements against the CEO of the French company, Stephane Richard: a possible operation between the two TLCs, Recchi said, "talking as the CEO of Orange is doing repeatedly about an operation that is only in his head and it has not been reflected in the governance procedures and in our board of directors I consider it a fantasy for which it is good that there is an assumption of responsibility for the effects that this can create on the media and on the markets”. Recchi then pointed out: "They are only declarations of interest on the one hand, there is no operation in progress".

"Actually there is nothing – the number one of the Italian company pointed out harshly -, no synergy and feasibility study of the project is underway. It would be a complex process where management would be involved in the construction and development of such a complex operation”.

With regard to Enel's programs on fiber optic broadband, then, Recchi underlined that "the synergies with Enel will depend on the price". Agcom will have to express itself on the matter to fix the prices and methods of accessing the network. "However - he added - we are not waiting for the regulator, but we are moving forward with our investment plan in Italy worth 12 billion over three years".
