Telecom Italia, profit down due to bond repurchase but in line with expectations

The net profit negatively affected by the accounting effects of the convertible and the buyback of the bonds amounted to 80 million (300 million net of extraordinary items) from 222 million in the first quarter of 2014.

Telecom Italy closed the quarter with a contained decline in revenues and confirmed the objective of operating improvement, in line with the plan which envisages a stabilization of the domestic Ebitda in 2016. According to a note from the company, reported revenues amounted to 5.053 million euros , down 2,6% over the year, Ebitda at 2.031 million, -7,7%.

The adjusted net debt instead stands at 27.430 million. THE revenues domestic ones fell by 2,6% to 3.631 million, domestic Ebitda by 10,2% to 1.610 million. The useful negatively affected by the accounting effects of the convertible and the buyback of the bonds amounted to 80 million, 300 million net of extraordinary items, from 222 million in the first quarter of 2014.

In the quarter, investments amounted to around one billion. The results are in line with the consensus of analysts, published on the company's website. Before the publication of the accounts, Telecom Italia shares had closed positively on Piazza Affari, gaining more than 1,5% in € 1,039 per share.
