Telecom Italia: it's all about redundancies

Negotiations continue to the bitter end with the Ministry of Labor for the management of 4.500 redundancies in Telecom Italia through voluntary exits pursuant to article 4 of the Fornero law, internalisation of activities and personnel requalification. The objective is to fully absorb the surpluses over the period of the 2018/2020 plan. On the other side of the table are the trade unions Slc Cgil, Fistel Cisl and Uilcom Uil.

Meanwhile, the company has said it is willing to use solidarity contracts (instead of the extraordinary redundancy fund) which, according to what the Radiocor agency learns, would last a year and involve around 29.500 workers. Numbers in line with those contained in the letter of May 16 in which Telecom Italia announced to the Ministry its intention to use the CIGS for restructuring purposes.

The 14 network workers, assets on whose separation Agcom has given the first go-ahead, should be excluded from solidarity. In addition, the company has given signs of opening a table on second-level company bargaining, canceled by Telecom which then adopted an ad hoc regulation.

The trade union delegation will have to evaluate the report that the Ministry of Labor will propose to close the administrative phase of the procedure. Once the contents have been shared, the document can be signed.

Yesterday was the last day of the CIGS procedure opened by Telecom Italia (which lasts 25 days). Thanks also to the mediation of the Ministry of Labour, a few more days should be granted to have the opportunity to consult the workers.
