Telecom Italia: for Asati, the best solution is a state intervention of at least 3 billion

To avoid the Telecom Italia crisis, a state intervention of at least 3 billion euros would be necessary. This is supported by Franco Lombardi, president of Asati, the association of small shareholders of the Italian telecommunications company. And today Consob announces that UBS has directly held 2,068% of Telecom Italia since 12 September.

Telecom Italia: for Asati, the best solution is a state intervention of at least 3 billion

"The best solution for Telecom Italia would be an economic intervention of at least 3 billion from Cassa depositi e prestiti, CDP". These are the words of Franco Lombardi, president of Asati, the association of small shareholders of Telecom Italia, who therefore hopes for government intervention through the state fund. Public interventions had already been registered in the past in a supermarket chain, in Snam, in Eni and today they are very probable for the Ansaldo Group and who knows for Telecom Italia.
Of course, state aid could cause risks, but Lombardi argues that "by entering Telecom through the Cdp, the state would avoid having an Italy with two or three speeds on broadband, that is, an Italy where interventions would only be made in the most rich while the more depressed areas would be abandoned". The State, he explains, “could guarantee uniformity of investments so that the whole country could have a modern network without which the country's GDP as well as employment levels are at great risk. If Telecom Italia enters a crisis and goes towards situations like Parmalat, Ilva, Alitalia, we enter a systemic crisis as Telecom is an indispensable driving factor for growth”.
According to Consob communications, released today, Ubs has held 2,068% of Telecom Italia since 12 September. The share, held directly lender-borrower, sees 0,92% without voting rights as it is in non-discretionary management of savings.
