However, Patuano stressed that "financial discipline and the creation of shareholder value are our laws: we don't want to operate at any cost". In short, the manager underlined, “if there is an opportunity we have to analyze it, after all the management team has to answer to the shareholders. If it will be possible to reach a deal with good negotiation, fine, but this is not mandatory".
Patuano then stated that “it has been demonstrated that Telecom Italia carries out analyses, the board is compact and capable of giving immediate answers, governance is at its best. So I am confident that it is possible to conduct analyses, talk about it with the board of directors and, if there is the possibility of creating value, we will be there".
