Telecom Italia, Catricalà: "Telefonica accept network spin-off"

The Deputy Minister for Economic Development on the access network: "Telefonica should accept the spin-off: there would be a partner like CDP and it could burden the network with part of the employees and the debt" - "I would have said no to the Telecom operation, but the market has to play its game”.

Telecom Italia, Catricalà: "Telefonica accept network spin-off"

Once it acquires control of Telecom Italia, Telefonica should agree to spin off the access network. To say it is the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Antonio Catricalà, on the microphones of Radio24: “The spin-off would not be proprietary, but corporate. There would be a major partner, the CDP, and 20 employees and part of the debt could be burdened on the network".

With the acquisition of Telecom, "Telefonica will also have the network in its belly and it must be the company that decides to spin off the network". If he does not decide on the spin-off, the difficulties of the Spanish group vis-à-vis the Government, according to Catricalà, would sharply increase.

The deputy minister then declared that he would have said no to the operation with Telefonica, at the time, but that "the market must play its game, and the government must have its guarantees".

Today in the middle of the morning, Telecom's share price dropped by 0,3%.
