By May 8, Telecom Italia will decide whether or not to continue negotiations with H3g. A meeting of the Group's Board of Directors will be scheduled on that day. The executive chairman of Telecom Italia Franco Bernabè said today, on the sidelines of a conference at the Luiss in Rome.
Today Enrico Cucchiani, CEO of Intesa Sanpaolo also expressed his opinion on the negotiation. The bank is a shareholder of Telecom through Telco. "The offer must be carefully evaluated - he said - After which the competent bodies will take the appropriate decisions". The feeling is that Intesa sees more than a profile of interest in the offer of the Chinese-born operator.
What is it about. The negotiation is with Hutchison Whampoa, the controlling shareholder of 3 Italia, and envisages a process of integration of the telephone service provider 3 Italia into Telecom Italia "possibly through transfer or merger by incorporation, which the Hutchison Whampoa group has conditioned, among other, to the acquisition of a further shareholding in Telecom Italia, such as to make it the reference shareholder of the company” (reads a note from the company) with a stake that reaches 29,9%.
