Telecom Italia: surprisingly 1.700 redundancies

Telecom Italia announced in today's meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development with trade unions 1.700 redundancies. Michele Azzola of Slc Cgil declared it to Radiocor at the end of the meeting at the Ministry of Economic Development. The group has also declared its intention to go ahead with the corporateisation of the caring sector, i.e. the call centres: for this purpose, an ad hoc company was recently set up which, according to what has been learned, is called Tim Caring Srl.

As for the redundancies, 1.200 are expected among staff personnel, 150 in the former "12" service, 200 in information technology, 150 in activities related to the Open Access division, called cross activities. The Slc Cgil, explains Azzola, opposed both the redundancies and the caring spin-off, clarifying that "if the company does not back down on the call centers, the union will not participate in the table". The meeting has already ended and has been adjourned to 29 July.
