Telecom, Intesa: "We will exit without compromising the balance"

We will exit Telco, but without compromising the balance of the company and its investments. This was stated by the chairman of the management board of Intesa Sanpaolo, Gian Maria Gros-Pietro, following the declarations of Telefonica's number one Cesar Alierta, who had affirmed in an interview his will not to change the participation of the Iberian group until 2015.

"We - Gros-Pietro specified - do not intend to remain in Telco for the long term, however Telco is very important, and above all Telecom is very important", especially for the country: "It is important for Italy that Telecom can make investments that are needed".

Meanwhile, in mid-morning, Telecom shares gained 0,47% on the Stock Exchange, in line with the slightly positive trend of the Italian stock exchange.

On the subject of telecommunications there are also today some declarations of the Prime Minister Enrico Letta, at a conference of the Financial Times: "We are convinced that the theme of the network is strategic and investments in the network are strategic and that Italy is behind".

For the Prime Minister "the network represents for us an asset from which to start again to invest and to help the discussion on the future of the network I have decided to set up a committee and give a mandate to three people: it is Francesco Caio, who will coordinate it, and two non-Italian network and telecommunications experts who will present a report on the state of the network by the end of the year”.

"Any owner of the network - concluded Letta - will then have to achieve the objectives and invest in the network and we want to push for strategic investments to be made".
