Telecom, crucial day: board of directors on Brazil and Metroweb

Telecom Italia's strategy in Brazil, the second telecommunications market for the Italian group, will today be the focus of a highly anticipated board meeting. Theoretically, all the options are in the field: from the strengthening of Tim Brasil with an investment plan, to the search for alliances and integrations with other operators starting from Oi which has not failed to make advances, up to the sale of the asset but only in the presence of a very convenient and truly indispensable offer.

Telecom must choose whether to find the means to expand in Brazil or monetize by selling but risking jeopardizing not only its profitability but also future plans. In other words, he will have to choose between the egg today and the chicken tomorrow, as they would say in the jargon.

Another decisive chapter concerns Metroweb. the Milanese company controlled by F21 and Cdp which has the strongest optical fiber in Europe. Telecom has made an offer to F21 to take over its share for an amount of around 450 million euros but it has to deal with the competition from Vodafone and also with the antitrust profiles that are raised by several parties in parliament and which call due to both Consob and the Antitrust Authority. It is not excluded that a tender will soon be reached for Metroweb but it will be necessary to see how far the two suitors will want to go.

Meanwhile, Telecom is speaking today.
