Telecom, Fossati: hypothesis of F2i partners and funds

Marco Fossati, Telecom Italia shareholder with 5%, presented his plan for the future of the Tlc group to the political forces in recent days. This was reported by the Radiocor agency, specifying that Fossati's proposal focuses on important partnerships and envisages the possibility of involving industrial and financial subjects. The lot could include F2i and some insurance and social security funds.

Fossati would also have talked about possible synergies with the Cassa Depositi e Prestiti on the network. Furthermore, the recent conference held by Asati (the small shareholders of Telecom Italia) on the possibility of creating a public company was attended not only by Fossati but also by the CEO of F2i Vito Gamberale who, speaking in a personal capacity, was very critical in against Telefonica, which "with Telecom Argentina and the convertible made two moves against the interests of the company and in favor of itself".

On that occasion, the former executive chairman of Telecom Italia, Franco Bernabè, underlined that there is still a lot of liquidity in the market to find the funds for a capital increase. A thesis he supported even before his resignation when he repeatedly suggested the path of a robust recapitalization rather than the reorganization of Telco with the rise of Telefonica. Returning to F2i, already in recent months, in answering a question on the hypothesis of an intervention by the fund in Telecom, Gamberale had already explained that what could be done is “confer Metroweb. Our shareholders, who are long-term institutional investors, could invest in Telecom”. To close the circle there is the recent news of Fossati's investment of about 20 million in the infrastructure fund of F2i which has the Metroweb asset.
