The initiative aims to create vertical services for industries enabled by the dedicated Ericsson platform in the Telecom Italia Foundry.

Telecom Italia and Ericsson have signed a three-year collaboration agreement for the joint development of innovative solutions in the field of services Internet of Things and Machine to Machine.  

The partnership aims to achieve vertical services for the automotive, utility and agricultural industries leveraging the enabling technologies offered by Ericsson's Device Connection Platform for managing M2M connectivity and by the Service Enablement Platform for enabling digital services.

The agreement has been signed at the Telecom Italia headquarters by Mario Di Mauro, Head of Strategy & Innovation of Telecom Italia and by Alessandro Francolini, Vice President Sales Director of Ericsson.

The projects will be conducted within the Foundry, Telecom's innovation “workshop”. Italy where, together with selected partners, they identify, experiment and develop the most innovative solutions that will be the basis of the next TIM offers in the sector of digitallife.

In particular, Telecom Italia will deal with the definition, experimentation, testing and evaluation of services on Ericsson platforms, conveying the solutions created jointly to the business and consumer markets in which it operates. At the same time, Ericsson will act as provider of technological solutions and services, making available its experience in the design and integration of end-to-end Machine to Machine and Internet of Things solutions; in addition, Ericsson will guarantee the interoperability of its solutions with Telecom Italia's systems and networks.

“The agreement signed with Ericsson – he declared Mario Di Mauro, Head of Strategy & Innovation of Telecom Italia – enriches the Foundry with another important partner for the creation of new service concepts for its customers. It is a brand new innovation model which aims to strengthen joint activities with selected sector players with the aim of creating poles of excellence in Italy dedicated to the experimentation and co-development of new generation services”.

Alessandro Francolini, Vice President Sales Director of Ericsson, says: “What Ericsson calls the Networked Society, where everything that benefits from a connection will be connected, is becoming a reality. In fact, we expect 26 billion connected devices by 2020.
