The European stock exchanges are picking up speed in anticipation of tomorrow's ECB decisions. In Milan, a further boost comes from the telecom and media sector. At 12,30, Piazza Affari advanced by 1,6%, ahead of Paris and Frankfurt, both up by an abundant 1%.
In Milan the shock comes from Telecom Italia +3,2% after the possible aggregation of the former Italian incumbent with the French Orange +1% in Paris yesterday received a kind of political go-ahead from Matteo Renzi and the president of the French Republic Francois Hollande.
Inwit also rises +1%, the company that controls the transmission towers in view of an offer Ei Towers +2,5%, the competitor headed by Mediaset. The Telecom group company is about to launch an offer for a third of the towers managed by the competitor. In turn, the latter is ready to make an offer to acquire just under 30% of Inwit's capital from Telecom Italia.
Meanwhile Mediaset, majority shareholder of EI Towers, rose by 2,2% also due to the effect of new background in the negotiation with Vivendi for an alliance between Premium and the owner of Canal+. The banking sector has thwarted: the big names are on the rise, Unicredit +1,6% and Intesa +2%.
Banco Popolare loses 2%, while Banca Popolare di Milano rises by 1%. At today's prices, the Milanese institution has surpassed its next spouse: 2,89 billion in capitalization against 2,67. Today the heads of the two institutes are on a mission to Frankfurt but, according to Reuters, the time is getting longer for the go-ahead for the merger by the ECB Supervisory Authority.
Good Azimut +2,1% the day after the presentation of data on harvesting. Generals +1,2%. Brent has once again risen above 40 dollars a barrel, rising by 1,3%. Among the oil companies, Eni rose by 0,6%, Saipem +3,8% and Tenaris +1%. Enel rises by 2%. The luxury companies are all positive, Yoox Net to Porter +2%, Luxottica +1,3%.
