Telecom: agreement with unions, no layoffs but CGIL doesn't agree

No Telecom Italia worker will be fired and redundancies will be managed with solidarity contracts. This was announced by the Ministry of Economic Development, explaining that a framework agreement was signed in the Dicastery between Telecom Italia and the trade unions FISTEL Cisl, UILCOM Uil and Ugl Telecomunicazioni. The CGIL confirmed that it did not participate in the table.

The agreement, explains the Mise, "defines the path with which the parties intend to pursue the aim of better protection of workers within the framework of reorganization and efficiency improvement of the Telecom Group" and "significantly implements the requests made in previous meetings by the trade union organizations and by the same Ministry".

The discussion now continues at company headquarters "to give practical implementation to the indications contained in the agreement". For Minister Federica Guidi, a note reads, it is "a significant goal that does not sacrifice jobs". The Minister “hopes that every effort will be made to recover that framework of general trade union representation which it was not possible to obtain in today's meeting. This action will be strengthened with the utmost determination.
