TEFAF New York 2019: dialogue between ancient and contemporary art

This year's Fair will introduce a variety of collaboration exhibitors specializing in historical and contemporary works, together in the same space. These presentations, set in select historic rooms in the Park Avenue Arsenal, will showcase the influence various eras have on one another in the art historical canon. Some of the world's best contemporary and modern art specialists have joined TEFAF New York Fall primarily to collaborate and challenge each other to present their material in a way that captures the aesthetic interplay and dialogue between their works.

TEFAF New York represents a global community of collectors, interior designers, museum curators and connoisseurs.

“TEFAF is known for offering an unparalleled collecting experience,” says Sofie Scheerlinck, managing director of TEFAF New York. “Always mindful of our proud audience, we want to make sure they have a new experience every time they visit the Fair. The mixed stand concept of ancient and modern art is very much in that spirit, with exhibitors joining forces to illustrate inspiring connections between their different fields of expertise. “

The care is entrusted to Booth Collaborations which will associate renowned international gallery owners specialized in historical works and other more modern ones. Among the collaborations planned for the stand are: Colnaghi (antique paintings) and Ben Brown (contemporary art); Anne Sophie Duval (modern design) and Almine Rech (modern and contemporary art); Rob Smeets (old masters) and Van de Weghe (modern and contemporary art); Cahn (antiquities) and Mayoral Gallery (European paintings, drawings and sculptures); Charles Ede (antiquities and ancient art) and Sean Kelly (contemporary art). Furthermore: Bacarelli & Botticelli (ITA); Bottegantica (ITA); Frascione Arte (ITA); Galleria Carlo Virgilio & Co. (ITA).

TEFAF New York was founded in early 2016 to host two annual New York art fairs at the Park Avenue Armory, TEFAF New York Fall and TEFAF New York Spring. Each fair features around 90 leading exhibitors from around the world. Tom Postma Design, renowned for its innovative work with leading museums, galleries and art fairs, has developed fair designs that interact with the spectacular spaces by giving them a lighter, more contemporary feel. Exhibitor booths will flow through the Armory's iconic building which includes the Wade Thompson Drill Hall and span both the first and second floors of the Armory's period halls, creating a Fair of unprecedented depth and impact in New York City.
