Taxi: national strike until 22pm

Surprise strike by taxis. Today, Tuesday 21 November, the taxi drivers will cross their arms from 8 to 22. The mobilization was decided as a form of protest after yesterday's meeting at the Ministry of Transport which did not produce the desired result.

In detail, taxi drivers believe that the government has deregulated the public taxi service by opening the market to hire with driver (NCC) and to multinationals such as Uber. Not even proposals for mediation that aim to introduce the principles of territoriality and return to the depot for NCCs are not accepted by taxi drivers.

“The objective that the government intends to achieve – affirms the Deputy Minister of Transport, Riccardo Nencini – is to regulate the market so that the services rendered to citizens are more efficient and better suited to demand. It is our intention to pursue this objective, overcoming the various forms of unauthorized use, regulating technological platforms, promoting NCC services on a regional basis".

In Rome, a national demonstration of taxi drivers is scheduled for today with an authorized garrison from 10,30 to 18 in Porta Pia.
