“Based on the permanent improvement of Stellantis' industrial footprint, that is our clear intention localize a greater number of models in Italian plants, starting from Melfi” which could in fact obtain one more model in addition to the four already announced. During the meeting held in Rome, Tavares underlined that "the performance and sustainability of the efficiency of our Italian activities trigger the sustainability of Stellantis in the interest of our Italian employees and the country's economy". 

The manager said he was "confident that, together with Adolfo Urso, we will create the conditions to first of all reverse the downward trend in production volumes over the next two years and then build together the roadmap to produce one million vehicles in Italy". 

“Stellantis – reads the company note – trusts in the collective intelligence and in the necessary attitude of goodwill of all the interested parties to create the conditions to maintain the role of leader of Italy at the center of Stellantis' strategy, in the very challenging context of electrification and Chinese competition in Europe”.

From an operational point of view, however, Tavares has set limits, emphasizing that “the impact of euro 7 regulations on the panda must be addressed and the Bev sales support must be considered” to support the activity of the group's Italian production sites. 

Stellantis investments in Italy 

The CEO then reminded him "significant investments made" by the group in Italy, first of all the new green campus of Turin which “will contribute to Stellantis' bold ambition to be carbon neutral by 2038, ahead of all other automakers in the world”.
