Tav and government: Salvini wants the head of Tria, Trenta and Toninelli

A day of chaos triggered by voto on the No-Tav motion of the M5S in the Senate. Growing tension after the rejection that exposed the vertical rift between the Lega and Cinque Stelle and which led to a crescendo of rumors about the possibility of a government crisis and a vote in the autumn, in the middle of the budget session. Whether it is tactics or true strategy, we will see shortly. Meanwhile, at 19,30 on Wednesday evening, Matteo Salvini cancels the various scheduled Beach Tours, the last one in Anzio, and enters the door of Palazzo Chigi for an interview with Giuseppe Conte. Then he goes to Sabaudia where, during a rally shortly after 21 pm, he explains that "a negative word will never come out of me about Di Maio or Conte, but something broke in the last few months. Italy needs yes, Italy with no goes nowhere”. And again: “The right choice that always satisfies everyone is not possible. I hope to please many. There will always be someone who disagrees. But we are in a democracy”. However, "the choice must be made quickly, our fate is in the hands of the people".

The pressure of the League on the M5S therefore increases. Salvini in Sabaudia spoke with the notes of Puccini's "Nessun dorma" and the famous "I will win" which served as the soundtrack. And although he has argued that "I'm not interested in reshuffles or reshuffles, two ministers more or less, I'm interested in being able to get things done", the rumors that circulate speak instead of ministers in the crosshairs.

In the conversation with Prime Minister Conte, the Northern League leader, according to reports from Ansa, would have set his own conditions for moving forward: a revolution in government, with new names and a revised and corrected "contract". in Lega sauce, or it's better to end it here, immediately. And don't even dare to start an impervious undertaking like that of writing the next manoeuvre, separated at home. The names: the first whose head Salvini would ask is Danilo Toninelli, Minister for Infrastructure, who came out of the Senate vote in pieces. But together with him, the Minister of Economy Giovanni Tria and Elisabetta Trenta, Minister of Defense would also be under attack. And perhaps also Giulia Grillo (Health) and Sergio Costa (Environment).

The League asks for a new "contract" and, in the meantime, the two deputy prime ministers and the prime minister cancel all the commitments made previously. Giuseppe Conte's pre-August press conference at Palazzo Chigi, initially scheduled for Thursday morning at 11, has also been postponed to a date to be determined.
