Tata Motors wants Saab: offered 350 million dollars

The Indian house that has already taken over the luxury brands Jaguar and Land Rover from Ford is now aiming to buy the run-down Swedish brand, which was forced to file for bankruptcy after an interminable ordeal in December.

Tata Motors wants Saab: offered 350 million dollars

The hell of Saab it may be almost done. Surprisingly, the historic Swedish car manufacturer could save itself by throwing itself into the arms of the fiercest Indian competitor: Tata Motors. According to what we read today in the Financial Express, the Asian company would have offered 350 million dollars to take over its ailing northern European cousins, bankrupt since last Decemberafter an interminable ordeal. “La Tata – writes the newspaper – is negotiating with Saab and private funds for a possible acquisition through its Jaguar-Land Rover unit”.

If the deal goes through, it would be a surprising colonization for the Scandinavian country. Just last month, Saab revealed that at least four companies were interested in buying, but most would be from Swedish brands.

Tata Motors already took over the luxury brands Jaguar and Land Rover from the American Ford in 2008. At the time, the investment was much more demanding: 2,3 billion dollars. But now I am several Asian competitors to contend with Saab: the Chinese in pole position Youngman, which however would have offered a lower amount (about 300 million dollars) and Indiana Mahindra and Mahindra, which produces automotive components.
