EU taxonomy: Assolombarda publishes the "guidelines" on how to apply the new rules in the company

Assolombarda unveiled on Thursday a document entitled "Guidelines for the application of Taxonomy in the company – the EU classification of environmentally sustainable activities as a compass towards the ecological transition”. The goal is to help member companies "to interpret the profound changes affecting the economic system", reads a statement.

The document, drawn up by the association's “Environmental Quality” working group, “intends to guide companies in the implementation of the new landscape designed at the community level – continues Assolombarda – and, at the same time, prepare them for the demands of the financial, banking and insurance system”.

Not only that: “The guidelines indicated by Assolombarda will be useful for companies to respond to the dictates related to the tenders connected to the National Recovery and Resilience Plan – continues the press release – with particular reference to the need (expressed by the principle “Do No Significant Harm”) not to cause damage to the environment”.

The association defines this as "an epochal challenge: businesses, moreover, have the great opportunity to enhance and communicate their performance in terms of sustainability to financial operators, who will, in turn, be able to assess the companies' ability to generate value towards a full ecological transition”.

The document “will allow our associates to have useful elements a understand the rationale behind the taxonomy – explains Alberto Dossi, vicarious vice president with responsibility for ecological transition – with a view to enhancing and directing one's activities towards an eco-sustainable perspective”.

Paolo Gerardini, vice president with responsibility for Credit and Finance, adds that "the study on DNSH that will help companies to seize the opportunities offered by the PNRR and undertake, in a more conscious way, that path of change towards a more sustainable future”.
