Tari in the bill: an amendment from the League to the maneuver appears

After Rai license fee, Also Tari it could end in the electricity bill. The novelty - designed to prevent the evasion of the waste tax - is contained in an amendment to the maneuver by Lega. The proposal will have to be discussed in the Senate Budget Committee at the same time as the maxi-amendment to the maneuver is approved afterwards the green light from the European Commission.

Unlike the sum due for public TV, however, the Tari in the bill would not concern all of Italy, but only municipalities in financial difficulty who approved a rebalancing plan.

To date, the Tari produces very different revenues according to the administrations, and because it is registered in some areas of the country a very high evasion rate, and because each Municipality behaves differently on this tax. I am thousands of municipal regulations in the process of being approved by the Ministry of the Economy, a supervisory department, with numerous errors in the calculation of the variable portion of the appurtenances.

However, the government itself does not seem entirely convinced of the possibility of passing the new regulation: "I would like to, but I don't know if we will succeed, there is some reluctance", said Massimo Garavaglia, undersecretary for the Economy, at the end of the work in the Senate Budget Committee.

Le consumer associations they have already produced the barrage. According to Federconsumatori, the solution is “simply unthinkable. We share the need to combat tax evasion, but the road is certainly not to increase the bimonthly spending of citizens, who are already struggling to make ends meet. In this way, instead of paying twice a year (for a total of 321,96 euros, it is estimated, for an average family of 3 people) citizens would pay around 53,50 euros more every two months, aggravating the already high for the electricity bill, which is already weighed down by unsustainable system costs and high price increases”.

And again: “We are also concerned about the confusion that occurred on the occasion of the introduction of the Rai license fee in the bill, with errors, double charges and improper charges. In the light of what happened, we dare not imagine what could happen with a tax which, among other things, falls within the jurisdiction of the municipality and has already been affected by errors in the past (let's not forget the question of the Tari on the appurtenances for which many citizens are still waiting for refunds)."

Finally, "we ask ourselves with what criteria the energy selling company distributes these revenues to the municipalities and with what costs".

For these reasons, Emilio Viafora, president of Federconsumatori, asks the government "not to approve this amendment, but to prepare as soon as possible a fair reform of system charges by eliminating useless frills and anachronistic components from the electricity bill".
