Tari: +72% in 7 years, but waste decreases

The waste to be collected decreases, but its collection is increasingly inefficient and above all the Tari continues to rise. The paradox emerges from a report by Confcommercio, which inaugurated the portal on Wednesday http://www.osservatoriotasselocali.it, a permanent tool dedicated to the collection and analysis of data relating to the waste tax paid by citizens and businesses in the tertiary sector.

According to the analysis, in 2017 the Tari reached a total of 9,3 billion eurosa 72% increase over the past seven years, corresponding to an overall increase of 3,9 billion euros, despite a significant reduction in waste production.

A growing expense despite the same period the percentage of separate waste collection has increased by over 20% and the management cost of sorted waste (15,12 euro cents per kg) continues to be about a third of that of unsorted waste (40,79 euro cents per kg).

The increase in taxation is doubly unjustified if we consider the data regarding the total waste generation which, in contrast, in the period considered has slowed down. Businesses, in fact, continue to pay more despite the fact that waste production has decreased from 32,4 million tons in 2010 to 30,1 million in 2016.

For tertiary companies, Confcommercio denounces "more and more evident distortions and cost differences between the same economic categories under the same conditions and in the same province: for example, a 1.000 m4.210 hotel with restaurant pays 7.770 euros/year in San Cesario (Le) while it pays 4.189 euros/year in Lecce; for the same activity in the province of Padua, the cost goes from 5.901 euros/year in Abano Terme to XNUMX euros/year in the provincial capital”.

Also, the association points out the inefficiency of local administrations, underlining that, on average, 62% of the provincial capitals register a higher expenditure than their needs. The costs for citizens and businesses amount to one billion a year due to the failure to achieve the Community objectives of separate waste collection (we are at 52% against the 65% set at European level).

The result is that in many cases “companies pay costs for a service never provided (with increases of over 80%) or for the lack of recognition of the seasonality of the activities - concludes the Observatory - For example, in the first case, in Rome, a petrol station of 300 square meters pays 2.667 euros while the correct amount it should be 446 euros; in the second case, a 5.000 m13.136 campsite in the Municipality of Fiumicino pays 5 euros when it would have to pay 5.473 for just 600 months of activity, or a 1.037 m432 bathing establishment in the same municipality pays XNUMX euros against the XNUMX it would have to pay ”.
