Eni reiterates "its non-involvement in any unlawful conduct" in relation to the preliminary investigation launched by the Milan Public Prosecutor's Office into the acquisition of the OPL 245 block which took place in 2011. In a note, the company explains that it has entered into the agreements for the acquisition of the blockade only with the Nigerian Government and the Shell company.
“The entire payment for the issuance of the relevant license to Eni and Shell was made solely to the Nigerian government. Eni - reads the note - acknowledges that, from documents notified yesterday to the company as part of a foreign proceeding ordering the seizure of a bank account of a third party company at the request of the Milan prosecutor's office, the Milan prosecutor's office is under investigation the Chief Executive Officer and the Director of Operations and Technologies”. Eni "is providing maximum cooperation to the judiciary and is confident that the correctness of its actions will emerge during the investigations".
