With a message to the nation sent at 3:00 am (Italian time) US President Donald Trump announced the beginning of raids against Syria in response to alleged nerve gas attacks on the population. A hail of missiles has hit Damascus and other sensitive targets. The military blitz is conducted together with Great Britain and France: both Tomahawk missiles and military jets are used. For now, no civilian casualties have been reported, but 3 injured in the attack on the military base in Homs: according to Syrian state television. Russia's response is piqued, announcing reactions.
At the moment, however, there are no signs of these reactions, neither from Moscow nor from the same forces in Damascus: sources from the US forces present in Syria to fight ISIS say. The raids, according to analysts, they should lead to a strong fronted response but not to military countermeasures; the risk, however, is that the retaliation will be carried out with cybernetic weapons.
The USA, the UK and France have launched "over 100 cruise and air-to-ground missiles on military and civilian targets in Syria". This was supported by the Russian Defense Ministry, while the French one, Florence Parly, declared that Russia "was warned in advance of the joint military attacks by the United States, United Kingdom and France against Syria. The operation is legitimate, limited and proportionate".

"The United States and its allies have no evidence of the chemical attack in Syria and are responsible for the regional consequences that will follow the attack decided without waiting for the Opac inspectors to take a position". Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said. But NATO for its part supports the attack by the USA, Great Britain and France against the Syrian regime's chemical weapons sites. This was stated by the Secretary General of the Alliance Jens Stoltenberg in a note. The action "will reduce the regime's ability to carry out further attacks against the Syrian people with chemical weapons", adds Stoltenberg, reiterating how the use of gas is "unacceptable".
Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni he was kept informed tonight of developments of military attacks in Syria, keeping in contact with the foreign and defense ministers and with military leaders. A statement from him is expected in the Sala dei Galeoni of Palazzo Chigi in the next few hours.
