Swisscom exits Metroweb

After the Enel Open Fiber-Metroweb agreement, the group that controls Fastweb, sells its 10,6% stake. The value is equal to 80 million.

Swisscom Italy (parent of Fastweb) signed the agreements relating to the sale of its 10,6% stake held in Metroweb to Metroweb Italia, the majority shareholder. The company announced it with a press release which constitutes the epilogue of the agreement announced in recent days for the exit from the company after the agreement reached by Enel Open Fiber and Metroweb itself for the merger between the two companies.

With the sale, the shareholders' agreements which attributed certain minority rights to Swisscom Italia will lapse. The value of the transaction is equal to 80 million euro, in line with the current valuation recognized by the offer presented by Enel for the acquisition of 100% of Metroweb Italia

The settlement of the transaction, the closing of which remains subject to the approval of the Italian Antitrust Authority, is scheduled for this autumn

Four years after its entry into the shareholding structure of Metroweb, Swisscom has deemed the current market situation favorable for liquidating its stake. Commercial relations remain in place that link Fastweb to Metroweb.
